Our adventure began long before the purchase of the flight tickets.. it began when Pirta accidentally Googled us an internship position in Mexico. Since receiving the little e-mail which confirmed our acceptance, we've been in a foggy dream between unreality and excitement.

At times there were moments when the reality stroke and we could do nothing but scream! Receiving strange glances in the halls of Tampere Polytechnic, when two blodes had a reality check. Visiting Mexico was a dream Maria had already since high school. It became a dream for the both of us after constantly visiting web pages of Mexico and flashing our library cards.

Our 26 hour journey included many mind blowing moments. The self-flushing horror toilets which followed us from London all the way to Cancun (who invented those anyway?!). Our idea of a little snack turned out to be a threat to the Goverment of the United States of America. Maria turned her bag of apples in at the customs and we were safe. Rememeber, don't take fruits to the States!

7 hours at the Newark airport was a battle against boredom. An airport as dead as Pirkkala airport, in New York? Yes, unfortunately.

We arrived to the steaming Mexico with full equipment- jeans and hooded sweaters, in 34 degrees Celsius. We quickly came to our senses and changed into Mexico-friendly clothing in the toilet. We also soon observed that the price level at the airport was not exactly wallet friendly; our bottle of water ended up costing as much as a bus ticket to Playa del Carmen.
